Fail Night: Nov 2nd in Guelph

Nov 1, 2017 | Mental Health events and workshops

Is not every day I’m invited to join a panel to talk about my failures. With that said, when we know it’s okay to fail we know it’s okay to challenge ourselves…to try new things…to innovate, and expand, and learn, and grow. That’s what keeps organizations evolving. I’m not saying we should be striving to fail. I am saying making it okay to fail leads to innovation, and failures in one context can also lead to success in another.

The other day I was challenging my daughter to create with me. She wanted to buy something called slime. But I watched the DIY videos. I challenged her that we could make it on our own. I purchased the ingredients. I watched the “fail-proof” videos. We followed the step-by-step instructions. And we made…I’m not sure exactly what to call it…sticky glitter-glue glup? It certainly wasn’t slime. But it also wasn’t total failure. We may have missed the mark making the official version of slime, but we invented something else along the way.

Fail Night 2017 will have a number of panelists who will be talking about missing the mark, per se. And this year we’re going to go a layer deeper to reflect on how our so-called “failures” in the context of mental health issues impacted our business and personal lives, and how our businesses and/or personal lives impacted our mental health. We’re going to go deep. It’s going to be raw and real. And we hope you’ll come.

STRESSED OUT. OVERWORKED. DONE.

That’s the subtitle of this year’s Fail Night. The official description by 10C reads as follows:

Being an entrepreneur & working toward social change often means trying new things & being a risk-taker. Join 10C & an all-star panel of guests who will share their stories & explore what we can all learn from the crossroads of failure, wellbeing & business.

Also, “Beer will be provided by Royal City Brewing Co. and other refreshments have been generously sponsored by Taylor Newberry Consulting.” Sah-weet!

If you’re in the Guelph area on November 2nd I hope you’ll join us. All details can be found below, or connect with the Facebook event by clicking here.
