HOW TO TALK TO KIDS ABOUT DEATH
Let’s talk about how to talk to kids about death. Kids have this unique filter they interpret the world through. You may think they have the same understanding as those who are teaching them concepts about life and death. But the only way to really know is to ask.
A VIDEO EXAMPLE
In Kristina Kuzmic‘s video “Interviewing my 3-year-old” she asks him about death at the 2:43 mark. And here is a great example of how to have that conversation. As you can see throughout the video the less judgement and negative reaction we have can help solicit a child’s true thoughts on any subject. This is really about giving kids language for a very specific topic, and letting them know they can talk to us about these things.
